ABOUT DON NEWMAN

Don is a New Yorker who got his start in the commercial photographic studios of New York. He began in the dark room, loading film for the large format film

Cameras, where he learned techniques in shooting and lighting. He found himself drawn to the textures of life in New York City.

Don traveled the world and the world gave his eyes focus. He was eventually drawn to New Mexico, where the historical magnet of the land and people inspired him. Drawn to this historical landscape of New Mexico with its sacred history, Don continues to photograph this world.

Don accepted a challenge to create a story of inspiration for the younger

generation. He produced a photo book on the exploits and challenges of the

young men who participate in the competitive sport of Mini Bull Riding. The

riders play off against each other as well as the animals, but unlike other

competitive sports, Bull Riders are extremely supportive of each other. This piqued Don's interest in photojournalism.
